The Zon lab aquaculture operation is among the largest and most active of its kind in the world, and consists of facilities in two separate sites: Boston and Cambridge.  The Boston facility, which was constructed in 2004, is  actually a “suite” of aquatic research rooms, including a tank room with 5000 fish tanks, and separate rooms for filtration, isolation, feed prep, and basic procedure (microinjection).  The Cambridge facility, which opened in 2011, is similarly arranged, and has greatly increased capacity for housing fish.  It also incorporates some of the most notable advances in zebrafish aquaculture into its design: robotic feeders and specialized breeding systems designed to support large scale drug screens.
